Dr. Fernandez is a materials chemist that directs two multi-institution EERE projects related to subsurface research (total funding level of $6.8 Million), one of them in self-healing cement for high-temperature wellbore applications. He has over 15 years of experience in industrial and governmental R&D. He has over 50 publications (H-Index 19), 11 journal covers, and six patent applications (four awarded). Fernandez’s work was recognized as a potentially game-changing technology on C&E News and he was awarded with the Institute of Chemical Engineers 2015 Global Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemical Engineering.
